Lessons Learned.

I have been MIA the last couple of days.  This has been because of two things.  One, Little Guy came down with an awful cold.  Ever since we got back from our Easter vacation he has had a terrible runny nose and nasty cough.  We even had our first real-life experience with the all-time dreaded mess of throw up (luckily it was only once and it happened to be because he drank too much bath water combined with his nasty cough).  He sure has had his fair share of sickness these last few months.

The second reason for my MIA is because we were out of town all weekend.  I can't even begin to express all of the things that I learned from this trip.  The saying, "You learn something new everyday" doesn't even begin to explain all I learned these last couple of days.  Instead it has been "you learn TONS of new things everyday".  I wanted to share some of the things I learned with you.

  • Toddlers with colds don't take naps.  They also don't eat... like ever... unless it is a treat from grandma.  They don't slow down either.  When toddlers are sick, it isn't the same as when adults are sick.  Toddlers just go on living their lives being as active as ever (possibly even more active).  Adults, on the other hand, position their rears on the couch with a big box of kleenex and watch the Food Network all day long.

  • Night time cold medicine has the opposite effect for Little Guy.

  • No matter how long you spend finding the perfect location for a hotel to stay in, you will always be wrong.

  • You can fit a toddler, a grandma, and a mom and dad all in one hotel room.

  • Hotel beds are never comfortable.  You always feel like you got hit by a train the next day.

  • I can't golf.  But I would love to learn how and plan on doing so this summer.

  • It isn't possible to make EVERYONE happy.  Sometimes you just have to be a little selfish and do what makes you happy.  It's too hard living a life where you are constantly trying to please everybody all the time.

  • If you have gone without Pepsi for 2 months-ish and drink a 32 ouncer you will get sick.  It will make you go to bed early, around 8, and not wake up until 8 the next morning.  You will then have to take a 2 hour nap that day to finally sleep off the nausea.

  • My mom is not only the greatest mom, but the greatest grandma.

  • You can't ever spend enough time in one visit to IKEA to see everything they have.

  • Maggie Moos has more ice cream flavors than one person could ever dream of.

  • Wedding plans excite all women whether they are already married or not.

  • Ghost Town is the funniest movie EVER, and even better when you get it from Clean Flicks.

  • Chocolate chip cookies make everyone happy.

The list goes on and on.  Despite some of the not-so-fun things that happened, we had a very enjoyable weekend.  It was great to be with family (as always).

I will be MIA for a few more days while we try to get Little Guy over this darn cold.

  1. Bummer...it seems as though he always has a cold. Good luck.

  3. So sorry Hil I hope he gets back to his normal self and mom gets some good rest and play time!
