Meeting a Stranger

Image
Photo by Justin Hackworth Photography "Hello? This is Justin." I heard the voice on the other end of the call.   "Hi, Justin, this is Hilary. I think we might be lost."    I kept kicking myself for not taking a better look at the directions he had sent me via email on how to get to his studio.  Some first impression I was making.  Luckily we weren't that lost, just a block or two away from where we needed to be.  He guided us to the right place over his cell phone and in a matter of seconds we found ourselves at 1 East Center Street. As we pulled into a parking space I looked up and noticed what a beautiful building it was.  It happened to be one of those old historic buildings downtown Provo with a gorgeous flowering pear tree bursting with white blossoms right out front greeting us.  Justin was standing there waving to us with a big smile, letting us know we had made it to the right place.  He had on a chambray shirt, converse shoes...

Sisters.

Image
From left to right:  Hil  ::  Stefanie  ::  Lindsey There isn't anything quite like a sister, is there?  I happen to have two of the most beautiful sisters out there (and some pretty gorgeous sisters-in-law as well).  One is already taken, but the knock out on the right is a senior next year and will be on the market soon, so email me if you would like me to pencil in a date with her. These two lovely ladies have birthdays just a day apart.  Stefanie's birthday was yesterday and today is Lindsey's.  I remember this being somewhat of an issue growing up.  No one wants to share a birthday cake and/or party with their sibling and that was the case with my sisters.  It was their special day.  So, we often got to eat two different kinds of cake within just two days of each other!  Awesome.  Now that they are older and more mature (?) they are more willing to share their special days... hence the combined birthday post. ...

We're back and a Happy Be-lated Easter to all!

We are back from our fun-filled trip to Utah.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous at my parents house, which meant we spent a lot of out time outside.  The cousins went for walks and even went swimming a couple of times.  My sister and her friend took Little Guy fishing for his first time ever (I have yet to have my first fishing experience).  He loved it and is begging to go again sometime.  The easter egg hunt was too cute.  Little Guy and his cute little cousin are the perfect age for that tradition.  They were not competitive in any way and just incredibly excited whenever they find a new egg.  It was too cute. I have a boat load of laundry to get done today, which should be awesome.  The best news though?  Little Guy and Tiny Man are sick again .  I know.  I can't believe it either.  For some reason I had it in my mind that we weren't allowed to get sick again after the month long stuff that ended just a week ago....

Sneak Peek

Image
Here is a little sneak peek to what I was up to yesterday, along with my mom and grandma.  It was one of those experiences we will remember for a long time.  Can't wait to share the rest with you!  For now, I'm off to go for a walk outside with my boys. *photos courtesy of my mom's iphone.

The Chalk Table

Image
Remember when I told you about the table Jer surprised Little Guy with when we came home from vacation back in January ?  Well, I am finally getting around to posting it. We love this little table so much.  It has provided hours of entertainment for Little Guy (not to mention was a life saver during General Conference a few weeks ago).  It has come in handy when we have little friends over for a lunch date.  I love that it matches Little Guy's room  perfectly .  I also love that it was less than $30 to make.  But what I love the most is that Jer thought of it all on his own, put it together and painted it for his little buddy.  He completely surprised the two of us with it.  Love that man of mine. Today is a busy day.  We have a very exciting week ahead and I can hardly wait to tell you all about it.  I will do my best to post about the fun after it all happens, but for now I am off to change a diaper and fold laundry. Hap...

It's Spring! (I think..) It's time to clean! (I'm pretty sure..)

Ahhh, spring in Idaho.  It's fantastic!  I am still catching the occasional snow storm outside my window.  I am wearing layers upon layers of clothing and my cute warm weather clothes are still folded neatly in their tupperware bin in the garage.  I want to cry each time I go outside without a coat on.  There isn't a flower in site and if you even dare plant anything right now it will be dead tomorrow.  However, nothing beats the awesome winds we have.  You can totally get away with not doing your hair and then just say "Whew!  That wind is crazy out there!" if you end up going anywhere.  People won't even think less of you because their hair looks the same way. The good news is that I can eat this cupcake that is tempting me right now, and maybe even another one later if I feel like it.  After all, swimsuit season doesn't hit here until late June, early July.  That gives me plenty of time to work it off. Even though the weather...

Life happens.

Image
When life happens, it sure is nice to have awesome neighbors like ours.  Thursday evening we had a knock on our door.  We opened it to see our neighbors holding this: Seriously?  I'll take bad news any day if I get to end it with one of these bad boys!  We really love where we live and not only do we have such great neighbors but great friends.  p.s. Little Guy and I finally went to the doc last night.  sinus infection for me, ear infection for him.   so glad we went in!  hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. p.p.s. if you are wondering what a sinus infection feels like... imagine being smashed in the face with a sledge hammer.  I think that pretty well sums it up.

Afflicted and Inspired.

{ picture } My family is still sick.  I have finally caught whatever it is that the boys have.  I stayed strong for a week, but eventually my immune system caved. Also, does anyone know how it feels to have a 3 mm corneal abrasion??  It's humbling  ridiculous just how debilitating a tiny scratch on the eye can be.  I learned that there are a lot of things that I could still do if I ever go blind.  Like change a diaper for example.  But there even more things I couldn't do.  Like drive. I'm just waiting for some tiny little leprechaun to jump out and say "APRIL FOOLS!".  But I don't think that will happen.  Wait, leprechauns are for St. Patrick's day... Anyway, I really didn't come here to have my own pity party.  Life really is wonderful and we are still so very blessed!  I came here to remind you that this weekend is the 181st Annual General Conference of my church.  We are lucky enough to have...
