A few things I love...

Here are a few things I love: Getting into bed after just washing and drying the sheets... they always smell and feel unbelievable! A good pair of jeans that fit just right. Hearing my favorite song on the radio, turning the volume up and singing at the top of my lungs. It's sad that this MP3 world has taken the fun out of that, seeing how you can listen to your favorite song anytime and anywhere now a days. Taking that first bite of Peanut Butter Cup Perfection from Cold Stone Creamery and feeling complete bliss. Watching my little guy learn how to clap by taking one hand and smacking the wrist of his other hand over and over again. Finding a text from my husband randomly through out the day that says "I love you". The scent that comes with a rain storm. Cuddling up in over sized sweats on a cold wintry day with a big cup of Stephen's Hot Cocoa and some toast. Playing Phase 10 or SkipBo with my husband every Sunday night and TOTALLY DOMINATING him....

Did ya miss me?

Yesterday, after being away from my husband for a total of 249 hours (yes I calculated it, and yes it took me WAY longer than it should have... I blame it mainly on public schooling), I was so excited to see him. I had so much fun being with family and friends, but it just is never the same without him by my side. When I walked through the door, I immediately noticed that he had probably spent all day cleaning (despite the fact that it was sunday..) knowing that I hate coming home to a messy house. As if that weren't enough, he had made dinner and had it neatly sitting on the stove. After dinner, he told me to go take a nap and he would watch our little man while I did so. I was exhausted (having stayed up until 2:30 the previous night and waking up at 5:00 and then 7:00 with our little guy) so, I followed his request and slept for an hour. When I woke up I saw that he had cleaned the kitchen from dinner, bathed our child, and unpacked my bag, our little guy's bag, my toil...

Where in the World is Hil?

Image
I am sure you all have been saying to yourselves, "Hey, where's Hil?".  I would like to take the time to explain myself, not justify, just explain.  I am currently visiting my parents with my little guy.  We up and left my husband last Thursday, driving 10 hours in the car with my Aunt and Uncle who were sweet enough to let me mooch a ride (I HATE mooching...it was very hard...but I got over it). I was so sad to leave, but my sweet husband reassured me that if ever there was a good time for me to up and leave with our son, now was that time.  He has midterms this week, and is pretty busy at work.  He claims that he would feel guilty staying late at work and going to the library to study if he knew we were at home waiting for his arrival. I love that man, he always knows the right things to say! What have I been up to?  A whole lot of nothin'.  It has been so nice to have people fighting over who gets to do what with my little guy.  They were even eager to change the ...

Sometimes we just need to laugh a little

These videos have been circulating around my family for a while now and so I decided to share them with you. They can always make me laugh, and sometimes we just need to laugh a little... wouldn't you agree? (Parents, don't let your kids watch this first one if you don't want them to learn the "P" word yet!) :) We're doin' business here.

Another Cake

Image
My little guy turned one about a week and a half ago and I am just getting around to posting pictures of his cake. Since this blog is in some ways a following of my developing hobbies, I thought I would share it with you! From the moment I first saw this cupcake pan I was in love. However, the darn thing cost $30! Ouch. After MUCH rationalization and telling myself that I would hereby use this cake pan for every future birthday in our family... I broke down and bought it.  I am so glad that I did! It is ADORABLE and I know that it will get used more than just this once.  Before you look at the picks, you should know that I am a HORRIBLE frosting spreader.   But, that is why I keep trying.  Ok, now that you know that... take a look! The master cake decorator at work. Ok, fine. It's just me. Looks good enough to eat eh?

I'm so vain.

To really understand the following blog post you have to know that I have always been a "weakling" (as my brother would so lovingly put it). I have never once been known as "the strong one". I was constantly asking my friends to open my Frutopia bottles in Jr. High, my 8 year old cousin had to help me haul my pipe while working on my aunt and uncles farm when I was 16, and to this day I have a hard time opening jars. I even remember one time when my brother was pretending to be me while getting a box of cereal off of the top shelf in our pantry. He reached up to grab it and right as he got it in his hands he exaggeratively fell to the floor and dropped the box of cereal saying it was "too heavy" in a girly voice. You also must know that I was recently blessed with a chunk of a baby. He is now a one-year-old and is pushing 30 lbs. Luckily, he is walking now and I don't have to carry him as much. However, this just happened recently, so it is saf...

Sick of it.

I am not a political person.  In fact, I hate politics.  Not because I don't understand them (which I don't) but because they are just dirty.  Sure, I was in Student Council for 5 years out of my life, but that is totally different.  For my speeches I used Dumb and Dumber and Tommy Boy clips...I'm pretty sure if one of the candidates did that during their debates it wouldn't go over very well.  However, it would be way more entertaining.  After only being able to watch 15 minutes of the debates last night because I couldn't stand listening to what either one of them had to say... I decided to write them a letter.  I promise that I will never post about politics again on this blog because I know we are all tired of hearing about it and the last thing you need is to find it on MY blog! Dear Mr. Presidential Candidate, We are writing you this letter to let you know that we are sick of it.  We are sick of hearing how horrible your opponent is.  We are sick of hearing wh...

Many of you may remember Cassie , the winner of the Simply Yours Designs Giveaway . She just recently got back to me and told me she was having a hard time coming up with what title to go with, who could blame her? Those darn titles... I hate it when people just use their names for the title, so boring...note the title of this blog and don't be offended. She came up with an adorable title and color scheme. She wanted black and white with an accent color of pink. She also wanted to add some sparkle with a girls best friend...diamonds! Oooh-La-La! Take a look! Want your own blog makeover?
