A letter.

Dear Parent who brought your sickly child to nursery, Why would you do such a thing?  Couldn't you see the big sign on the door that tells you not to bring your child into nursery if he/she has a 1)runny nose 2)fever 3)cough etc?  Instead, you decided to ignore it and bring your runny nosed child to nursery anyway.  I did all that I could to keep my little guy away from yours, but seemed to have failed when I turned around and saw your little guy standing 2 inches away from mine.  Before I could do anything about it, your little guy coughed into my little guy's face.  We aren't talking about some dry little cough.  We are talking about a huge, disgusting, hacking cough that spread thousands of tiny germs right on to my little guys face. It is currently 7:00 AM and I have officially been awake for 2 hours now.  As if being up since 5:00 AM wasn't bad enough, I didn't get to sleep until 12:30.  Why you ask?  Because my child is sick.  He has a runny nose, a horrible c...

Frozen.

I had great intentions to write an amazing post today, but I am afraid that I am too frozen to do so. It is currently in the negatives here, feels like -500*F. All I can say is you better pray that it is warmer tomorrow so I can write my amazing post. For now, I am going to go see if I can fit in my microwave and set it for defrost.

Giveaway Winner Designs

Take a look at the new designs for the two girls who won my giveaway!  I had so much fun working with both girls and their different tastes.  Dee over at Two of a Kind Working on A Small House mentioned that she liked the scrapbook look as well as whimsical and modern.  Samye wanted something bright, whimsical and simple with a possibility of orange being incorporated. They were both so much fun to work with!  Thank you girls for entering the giveaway, I hope you both enjoy your new blog designs!

SUCCESS!

For those who were wondering, my bread that I talked about here turned out great!  It was so yummy... probably the best homemade bread I have had in a long time.  I didn't take a picture because I still need to practice on "shaping the loaves".  But I did steal this picture from the Pantry Secrets Blog. I am hooked.  It took me 60 minutes and that includes clean-up! My little guy LOVED "helping" me by trying to eat the dough that I gave him to play with.  He also loved the bread.  He and I ate half of the loaf before my husband even came home!  Oops.  My husband was impressed and loved it as well.  SUCCESS!! I haven't made or bought white bread in YEARS.  My health science professor scared me from ever going anywhere near the stuff again (that and mac and cheese).  However, I do love it... a little too much (hence half of the loaf being gone).  I think next time I will try the wheat recipe.

Inspired to be a Domestic Diva

Last night for our Relief Society's Enrichment we had a wonderful demonstration featuring Pantry Secrets .  This recipe is absolutely amazing people!  You can make 4 loaves of bread in UNDER ONE HOUR!!! The sister who was doing the demonstration had on an apron that said "Domestic Diva".  She made so much stuff in just 2 hours!!  She made 4 loaves of bread, a stuffed crust pizza, breadsticks on a stick (like The Pizza Factory does it), a cream cheese dessert braid, a taco braid, crescent rolls, dinner rolls, kaiser rolls, french bread... and the list goes on and on!  She made all of this from the same one bread recipe that only has 6 ingredients.  She definitely inspired me to become a domestic diva.  I am going to attempt the recipe today and make a loaf of bread and some monkey rolls.  I will then freeze the rest of the dough because it DOES FREEZE! The secret behind this recipe is that they use this stuff called Lecithin instead of oil. ...

Shine Shock.

Image
About 4 years ago I discovered one of the most glorious hair products.  I realize that 4 years was a long time ago, but I just used this product again the other day and decided enough was enough.  It was time to share this secret product of mine with the world.  Well, if not the world, then at least to my fellow readers! My hair seams to get so dull and lifeless during the winter months.  It is VERY dry where I live and that means my hair is very dry as well.  I suppose it doesn't help that I have naturally curly hair and therefore I either use a ton of product to keep it from frizzing or else I blow dry and flat iron it stick straight.  My poor hair, right?  I found Proclaim Spray on Glosser and haven't had a problem with dry/dull hair in the winter months ever since!  All you have to do is spritz A TINY BIT onto your hair after you have styled it.. and voila!  Instant shine! The greatest part about this product?  Like the Nioxin , ...

Inauguration.

Image
Here's the deal.  I have mixed feelings this morning as I watch the inauguration of President Elect Obama.  After reading this article that states the cost of his inauguration, I can't help but question things.  His inauguration costs total around $170 million dollars.  Ironic seeing how there was a lot of criticism over President Bush's total cost being around $40 million for his inauguration. However, another part of me is very excited and proud to be an American today.  If I don't think of the "celebrity" man behind this whole thing and focus on the actual history being made, I can't help but feel the excitement that the rest of America is feeling today.  Yesterday, which was Martin Luther King Jr. day, I watched little clips of Dr. King's famous "I have a dream" speech.  I realized how far our country has finally come since that day and felt an overwhelming sense of excitement. As I watch the inauguration on my T.V. I can not believe the...

Winner, Winner Bo Binner

Fee Fi Fo Finner!  WINNER!  Ok, it's the day you have all been waiting for.  Before I announce who won the free blog design, can I just say that I have the hardest time during these giveaways? I hate not being able to give EVERYONE a free blog design. I also want to say thank you to those who blogged about my giveaway and added my button to your sidebar.  You guys rock!  Please keep trying because there may be more giveaways in the future. Ok, I'll stop talking and give you the winners... even though I am sure most of you skipped over all of this and just scrolled down to the names.  Whatever.  Can't say that I blame ya. The winners are...oh did I mention I decided to give two makeovers away?  My bad.  I decided to give two away.  Here they are: Samye who said,  "...I would love a new do…I mean come on have you seen my generic white blog?? (It is screaming for help!) I have your button on my blog…" Dee who said, "oh these are great! My blog background is ta...

Resolution #3

Remember my new years resolution #3?  No?  Well no worries, I almost didn't remember it either.  #3 was Enjoy the Tantrums .  I just so happened to find someone who has mastered this goal and wanted to share it with you. I love how the kid realizes that there is no worth in a tantrum if no one is watching.  Just think, if these parents wouldn't have enjoyed this tantrum and video taped it, we wouldn't have this funny video to laugh at. Not only that, but they wouldn't have won any money from America's Funniest Home Videos! I couldn't find the original (which actually goes on for twice as long) so if you happen to come across it let me know and I'll replace this one.

Wish me luck.

Today I have a doctor's appointment set up for a full physical.  Wish me luck.  We have to have physicals each year for our insurance.  This will be my first physical in A LONG TIME so I'm not really sure what to expect.  All I know is I hope they don't test my brain because it seems to be performing a little less than par lately. Example.  The other day I was trying to get my whole custom domain thing figured out because my site had been down longer than I had hoped.  I was talking to my brother (who just so happens to be my right hand man when it comes to anything computer oriented...the poor guy) and I asked him what I should do about the situation.  The following is a conversation we had on google chat that I have copied and pasted: Jon: might be time to hop on the phone with godaddy or something Hilary: ok Hilary: i'm a little worried Jon: well Jon: yeah Jon: i'm sure that they have dealt with this issue before Jon: you could give them a quick call Jon: tell ...

Resolutions 101

Well, here I am.  The biggest procrastinator ever.  I have been putting off making my new years resolutions as long as possible.  I am sure most of you are sick of reading everyone else's by now, but I figured it is about time I record mine. It is interesting to me how much can change in one year.  It seems like just yesterday I wrote "My Goals for 2008" as the title to one of my journal entries.  I wish it were just yesterday so that it didn't seem quite so pathetic that I didn't accomplish most of them.    Oh well.  That's what a new year is for right?  So, here goes nothin'. #1- Eat Healthier .  This does NOT mean I am going to give up my cookie dough.  Sorry.  But that is just out of the question.  However, I would like to add some vegetables to my diet. #2- Be Organized. I am the worst organizer on the planet.  Well, maybe not on the planet (have you seen those shows on Compulsive Hoarders?!) but I really would like to be more organized.  I am awful ...

No one can match my Bodacity

After many years of trying to be cool, I have finally succeeded.  Whether it was when I was in elementary and had the latest and coolest Bonnebell chapstick, Jr. High when I could be seen drinking a Strawberry Frutopia, or even High School with my Nokia brick phone that had an orange cover (my high school colors were orange and black), none of those even compare to the level of coolness I have now reached. What has made me this cool you ask?  I finally purchased a Mac, much to my brother's delight.  So far, it has been a great decision.  I talked myself into it by using the excuse that "I need it for my design business because Macs are better for designing"... yeah right, like I really knew what I was talking about. The real reason is because of those commercials.  You know the ones I'm talking about, with the cool Mac guy and the nerdy PC man.  Whenever those commercials would come on, I was always reminded by what a nerd I was for having a PC.  I would justify it b...
