I WON!

Image
I won a $20 gift certificate to Scribble It thanks to Hannah (my awesome sister-in-law) over at Sherbet Blossom Studio ! I couldn't be more excited about this whole thing. I know you have all read my posts about going over and entering her contests, and I have had her button on both of my blogs all month. I was really starting to give up, seeing how she had had SEVERAL giveaways already. I honestly never win anything. I think that this moment calls for an acceptance speech! Here goes nothin': I first of all want to thank Hannah for providing the opportunity to win this prize. I also want to thank Scribble It for existing and having such amazingly cute things. I want to thank my husband and child who had to put up with me checking Sherbet Blossom EVERY morning to see what new giveaway she was having and to see if I had won. I also have to thank the stash of frozen cookie dough that I kept in my freezer to get me through all of the times when I didn't win. And las...

Digital Scrapbooking

Image
I have had several people ask me about digital scrapbooking; what it is, how I got into it, how I learned how, where I get my supplies, etc. I decided to write this post to answer some of those questions so that some of you who are interested can get started! What is Digital Scrapbooking? In very non-technical terms, it is basically just scrapbooking using digital elements rather than paper elements. It is all done on your computer using a digital scrapbooking program (such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) and digital kits. A better explanation can be found here. How did you get into it? I discovered the world of digital scrapbooking when I was searching the web to find out how to make a cuter blog (for my family blog). The site I came across recommended going to Shabby Princess because you can use any of those elements and papers for your blogs. I started to search that site a little more, and read their introduction to digital scrapbooking. From that point on I was det...

Giving in..

Image
After a virus attacked my computer last week, I was left with a computer that was completely fine minus the fact that it took my free trial of Photoshop away from me. I still had a good 13 days left! I went into a bit of a panic seeing how earlier that day I had agreed to make the invitations for our enrichment night that is next month. This wasn't TOO big of a deal seeing how I didn't have Photoshop to make the last one I was asked to do... I did it in Microsoft Power Point. BUT it took twice as long and didn't look near as good as it would have if it had been done in the proper program. My husband took this opportunity to tell me that I needed to just buy Photoshop Elements and stop relying on free trials. I use it enough that it would be worth it. The problem is, I absolutely HATE spending money and I hate it even more when it is on things for me. I can't help but think about how many diapers we could have bought or what great new shoes we could have gotten f...

Warning:

The following story is not a preview to this summer's scariest flick... it is real life. The other day while my little guy and I were on our daily walk (it was actually the day that STARTED our daily walks..) we happened upon a very scary incident. We had made our rounds through the neighborhood and were on our way back to our apartment when I saw a guy off in the distance. He was probably in his 20's, wearing baggy pants and a grungy looking t-shirt. I could see that he was talking and was very animated while doing so. I was still to far to see who he was talking to, but being the paranoid walker that I am... I crossed the street to avoid having to make contact with him. As I got closer to this guy, I realized he wasn't talking to anyone. I thought for a second that maybe he was talking on his cell phone with one of those blue tooth ear pieces (which I HATE! because I always answer the person who is asking a question with one of those things in, only to find that they...

On a happier note...

My last post about missing out must have been a bit depressing. I had a few people feeling sorry for me, and that wasn't what I was going for. Really, the only reason I wrote that post was for something to do since my husband was gone and my baby was finally asleep. So, I promise to make this post a bit more positive! As most of you know, I have been DYING to try out my new cake decorating kit ever since I received it in MAY. How sad right? Well, the main reason that I hadn't decorated a cake is because I didn't really have a good justifiable reason to make one. Other than Father's Day .. there hasn't really been a holiday that would allow me to make one. The reason I have to have a justifiable reason is because if I didn't then I would be 100 lbs heavier by the end of the summer thanks to my lack in self control. Two days ago, I finally got to the point where I couldn't take it any longer. I had to decorate a cake. My dilemma was that I didn'...
