Happy Pioneer Day!

Image
Photos courtesy of South Idaho Press I hope you all have a wonderful Pioneer Day. I am so grateful for those pioneers who sacrificed so much so that I can have the life I have today! For more info on this holiday, go here . We are headed to the in-laws for the annual Spudman Triathlon. My father-in-law is in charge of setting up the finish line each year, so we are going to go see if we can help! I wish I could tell you that I was participating in this huge event and I am a natural born athlete, however seeing how I can't walk a couple of blocks without feeling winded.. it's probably a good thing that I'm not. Instead, I will stand on the sidelines (eating a donut or two) and watch crazy insane people participate in pure torture. Have a wonderful weekend!

what i learned today

Today I learned a lot. Allow me to share: - When your child sleeps in, you end up sleeping in and therefore your schedule is completely thrown off. You then realize that having your schedule thrown out the window isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it's fun to live on the edge. - Getting out and meeting friends at the zoo can be well worth the effort it takes to find your toddlers shoes that he had decided to hide, get him (and yourself) dressed in clothes that match (and are clean), and spend the $5 you stashed for snow cones so that you could get in. - Always be sure to check the oven before you preheat. You never know if your toddler has decided to hide your one of a kind amazing hot pads that you can't find in any store anywhere. If your toddler does do this and you by chance forget to check before preheating the oven, your apartment will fill up with smoke in less than sixty seconds. - Sometimes a frozen DiGiorno pizza is needed to help you skip out on a day o...

tired.

Today was a long day. It was a typical wonderful day in the life of a mother, but I am pooped. I woke up early, played at the park, shopped at Target, ate some snacks, took a nap, played outside, cleaned the house, went on walks (yes plural.. the kid loves them), made dinner, cleaned up, gave Little Guy a bath, put him to sleep, worked on blogs, ate a snow cone and now I am ready to prop my feet up and finish what I started last night: Thanks to my sister-in-law for suggesting this wonderful movie! Thanks to Netflix instant play, where I am able to watch it and convince myself that it is "free" (even though I'm paying a monthly fee). It is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I have been on a Jane Austen kick lately (I watched 4 movies based on her books in one week) and this is a nice compliment to those! It consists of two discs, and is four hours long. My husband and I started it at 11:00PM last night and only made it to 1:00AM. It was hard to tur...

State Fair here I come...

Image
Oh boy am I excited. The other day I found out Rodney Atkins is coming to our state fair this year, and I can't wait! I love his music and love the fact that he is a family man even more. It doesn't hurt that he looks cute in his cowboy jeans and baseball cap. My favorite song of his is "Watching You" due to the fact that it melts my heart when my husband sings along to it (he won't ever admit to it), knowing he is thinking about him and Little Guy. You can find the video to my favorite song of his here . I have yet to get tickets, but when I do it will be one happy day. I'm ready to get my cowgirl on. Wanna join me?

Candied Cotton

Image
Ever wonder what happens when your husband's company picnic offers free cotton candy? Proof. You stock up. Only after eating three five bags already of course. Oh, and then you end up eating all but two of the bags in your stash by the end of the day. Note that these aren't HUGE bags of cotton candy... but also note that they had been squished on the drive home. I had 7 bags of cotton candy on my lap the whole way home, of course they are squished!

i'm back.
