A blog hiatus.

It is seriously taking a lot of motivation for me to post lately.  I feel that it is time for a blog hiatus to refresh and renew a bit. Never fear, I will be back soon with some great posts and even some new recipes!  Until then, peace out.

Happy Earth Day - Twenty Ten Style

Image
picture via google images A few of my Earth Day favorites. :: a  new movie that I can't wait to see. :: an old movie that everyone must see. :: 31,465,108 billion acts of green.  awesome. :: green may become the new prominent color in my closet . :: definition and history of this great day. :: wild nature survivor guy  on sesame street today. :: how green are you? We are lucky enough to enjoy Earth Day through sheets of rain and claps of thunder here.  Little Guy and I are recuperating from our big day yesterday, complete with the preparation of five casseroles and a big Relief Society bash to end the night. We plan on staying in our sweats and watching the rain fall for the rest of the day!

Simplify.

Image
I have recently deleted my Twitter and Formspring accounts.  I decided to get rid of some of the virtual reality in my life in hopes of gaining more real reality. These days, I think there are always things that we can weed out of our lives to make it just a little more simple.  Getting rid of these two things has definitely helped simplify things for me.  I felt a huge weight that was lifted once I clicked the "deactivate account" button.  A weight that I didn't even realize was there! You can still find me here, on my blog, and you can always email me by clicking the link to the right if you ever have any questions. Thanks to all who followed me on Twitter and asked questions on Formspring!

Hello Sunshine.

Sorry to have left you with such a sad post for over the weekend.  Truly didn't mean to leave it up there so long.  We have been too busy enjoying the gorgeous weather that decided to grace us with it's presence. I don't even have any pictures to share! Never fear, we have snow scheduled for Thursday, so I'm sure I'll have some great post for that day.  Until then, please excuse as we go attempt to catch butterflies (er, gnats) and allow the sun to leave it's mark on our skin.

I cried today.

Image
It's true .  It was the first time in a very long time.  I really can't remember the last time I cried about my little Michael.  I look at it as progression.  At first it was several times a day, then once a day, then every other day, twice a week, once a week... and so on.  But today, all of the emotions came flooding back and hit me head on in the shower.  I let the tears fall, camouflaged by the drops coming from my shower head. It all started when I read this blog post this morning.  Hearing the story come from a husband's perspective made me think a lot about my husband during the loss of Michael.  He was such a blessing during that time.  He was understanding and supportive on the days when my only accomplishment was going through a whole box of tissues.  He most likely pushed his feelings of greif and sadness aside so that he could focus all of his energy on comforting me and entertaining Little Guy. He returned to...

Cannon Rebel XSi vs. Chocolate Milk

Image
Yesterday was one of those days. You know the ones where you feel like you have cleaned up every mess imaginable, and no matter what your toddler grabs a hold of it eventually ends up all over him and/or the floor?  It was nearing bed time and I seriously could not wait to get Little Guy in bed so that I could clean up the apartment before my husband came home from class. I was in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner and happen to glance over at Little Guy right about the time he was bending over to pick something up.  This was all fine until I saw that he had a glass of chocolate milk in his hand.  As he bent over, the cup of chocolate milk tipped along with him and spilled all over the floor.  Ok, don't panic, I grabbed a towel and went to go dab it up.  I did a fine job of not panicking until I saw my camera lying on the floor (what it was doing on the floor is beyond me) covered in chocolate milk.  I panicked.  Hyperventilated really.  ...

A Letter to My Baby - Due

Image
Michael, Well it's official.  I survived your due date!  It wasn't nearly as awful as I had expected.  Possibly because I was surrounded by your dad and big brother.  We received the memory book I put together for you just a day or two after and took a look through it.  It reminded us of those sweet tender moments we were able to share with you for that short amount of time after your birth. Little Guy saw the pictures of you for the first time in a long time and said "oohhhh, cute baby."  We told him that they were pictures of you, his brother, and he kissed the picture.  It was a very sweet moment. I have learned so much through this time of healing.  I have felt the true depth of sorrow and yet have been lifted up to such great heights of joy as I think of how blessed we truly are. I have had several women contact me these past months, sharing their own stories that are all too similar to ours.  My heart goes out to each one of them...
